Memorial Day, Monday May 29, 2017

A poem from our service, May 28, 2017, written and read by one of our church members, Jim Smith. See the service on our YouTube page at Sunday 05/28/2017 Service . The poem is approximately 24 minutes into the video.

A note from Jim,
As we prepare to celebrate Memorial Day let’s remember that our freedom was paid for, it is not free. Here is a poem I hope you will enjoy as we pause to remember friends, family members and complete strangers who died for our freedom…

America’s freedom is not free
It is paid for by lives and blood you see!

Reflect back now to those who died
And loved they left who cried and cried

A father, son, brother or friend
Uncle, nephew – bad news for next of kin

Mothers, daughters, and sister too
Gave their lives for me and you!

Don’t take your freedom for granted anymore
Stand up for America and guard her shore!

Remember those in harm’s way today
And lift them up each time you pray!

Home of the brave and land of the free
Compliments of those who gave unselfishly!

The price is high – the cost is steep
Not attained by the lazy and ones who sleep!

And now you know and hopefully see
America’s Freedom is not free…

May God continue to bless America!
